What I really want to say!

Stop it Already!

Stop looking for a quick diet fix. Stop eating crap! Stop spouting excuses for why you cannot workout today. Stop wishing your butt and thighs fits into skinny jeans and do something about the state of your fitness. Stop complaining, repeating bad habits and then maybe, just maybe, you can have the body you know is buried under layers of accumulated fat. And do it now!

I’m sorry, but every year it’s the same thing. It’s January and the gym is full of people who will drop out within 3 weeks.

Fitness is not just a dream

You want to be fit, but do you really believe you can ever be in great shape? If you don’t believe it and want it, you can never have it. Sorry, just the way it is. You must have faith in yourself and realize that you are  a member of the most advanced species on this planet. You have an amazing brain inside your pretty head, so use it!

Let me Scream

Every time someone gives up on themselves and resumes bad eating and starts their day with exercise excuses, I want to scream like a giant angry head. Your body is made to move and be fueled with real food. So do it now!

Eat less & healthier

Yes, you will need to cut back on seconds, heaping helpings, and sugary, salty and fatty foods. You can do it! Use smaller plates, portion out your food ahead of time, shop healthfully, cook at home, avoid fast foods, shun sodas and other useless non-foods. Take charge of your eating, and not just for a few weeks.

Stick with it

In other words, if you really want to make a change to one of fitness and health, then push through your excuses and don’t give up. Allow yourself only positive motivating thoughts, and stay that way all year and for the rest of your life. it’s your choice!

Choose!

Fitness or fatness! Skinny jeans or fat pants! Long or short life!

Favorite Healthy Food

You don’t need to go to the Renaissance Faire to enjoy this delicious, high-protein meal. Diana cooks up a little energy in the kitchen with one of her favorite healthy foods to eat.

This special turkey is worthy of eating after a workout, on a  messy date, when home alone or at work for lunch. It’s a great food to eat after a workout to help feed, build and tone your muscles. You’ll stand up straighter, smile harder and most likely you’ll want to eat this again and again.

Recipes Below: For side dishes on Diana’s plate.

Heads Up: Pair this turkey with small red, purple and yellow (Yukon) potatoes.
Recipe: Brush potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with any seasoning, such as garlic salt. Bake in oven with Turkey for 20 minutes or until a fork pokes easily through it.

Double Heads Up: Round out this meal with a salad.
Recipe: Add to a big bowl, assorted lettuces (such as a spring mix), sliced radicchio, diced tomatoes, slivered avocados and drizzle with  All-a’Round Salad Dressing.

All-a’Round Salad Dressing: Make this your go-to salad dressing.
Recipe: In a high bowl, add 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 2 finely chopped basil leaves. Whisk together as you slowly pour in 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Sometimes willpower does not cut the cake when trying to keep yourself from eating foods that are high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats. Most of the time it helps to have some tricks to call upon!

Here are 4 ways to help keep you on track and away from fat pants:

  1. Remove all high fat-foods from your kitchen and workplace. The idea is to make sure these addictive, unhealthy items are not so easily accessible and stuffed into your mouth.
  2. Make a healthy food shopping list and stick to it. This will keep you from being tempted to buy the array of food-like substances sitting not so innocently on the shelves.
  3. Find ways to lower stress. By doing this you can help eliminate this common trigger of overeating and live a longer and more healthful life.
  4. Stay away from all-you-can-eat buffets and dining eateries that promote endless gluttony. This way you have a fighting chance at avoiding the obvious torture of trying, yet likely failing, to turn away a second, third or forth heaping helping of way too much food.

Get More Sleep, Lose Weight

Recents studies show that if you are looking to shed extra pounds, you should find ways to be keep stress at a minimum, be happier and get more sleep. Turns out that not doing all those things can hinder weight loss even when cutting back on calories.

How much sleep is enough?

The goal is to get enough sleep to feel refreshed in the morning and stay awake and alert throughout the day. Most people should aim for around seven to eight hours of quality sleep every night.

Researchers speculate that if you are sleeping less or more than recommended and if your stress levels are high, you will not be able to focus on making behavioral changes.

  • 51% of people in Wales get six or fewer hours sleep a night.
  • 15% of couples roll together because of a dip in their bed.
  • 64% report waking with neck and back ache.
  • Beds deteriorate as much as 70% over 10 years, according to industry research.
  • Tiredness affects our physical and emotional health.
  • Humans evolved to do certain things at certain times of day.
  • Snoring, which can be a sign of obstructive sleep apnoea, affects 4% of people.
  • Sleepers pass through five stages: one, two, three and four and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep several times a night.
  • The last two stages are the deepest sleep which those with obstructive sleep apnoea may never get. Not getting them can make you feel constantly tired.

Exercise to Burn Off A Hamburger

Eat A Hamburger & Still Look Good

So you succumbed to eating a big fat juicy hamburger and now you want to burn it off.

Burn Burger Burn

Your basic hamburger is about 310 calories, and to burn that off here are some exercises to melt away that burger and bun. (These vary with height, weight,  intensity and size of the burger you ate.)

  • Walk: 94 minutes
  • Run: 31 minutes
  • Rebound: 26 minutes
  • Swim: 59 minutes
  • Bicycle: 45 minutes

When cooking your own burger,  use lean ground beef or turkey. Instead of a pure meat burger,  mix in chopped veggies, and either serve without a bun, or on a whole-wheat bun or whole grain bread. Add lettuce or fresh spinach topped with a slice of tomato and a dash of mustard. For a cheesy flavor with fewer calories, grate fresh Parmesan on top. And lastly, pair it with a cool glass of water or plain soda with a squeeze of lemon or lime — or add slices of pineapple for a refreshing beverage that goes with any burger.

A hamburger is Round, but it did not grow that way. A hamburger must be shaped and molded into a Round shape by a machine or human hands — so it falls under the category of Shaped Round foods. This means you can eat it some of the time, and if you do, just remember that you can burn it off — although in the Round world you are not allowed to feel guilty about eating it!
