Bump Up Your Fitness

A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY

You can bump up your fitness by adding 5 minutes to whatever exercise you do, such as when you are running, cycling, swimming, rebounding or weight lifting. And then you can bump it up some more with another 5 or 10 minutes, topped with some intensity.

Top it with Intensity

There are many ways to add intensity to your workout, and they all require your full attention. This means forgetting about chatting, ogling or moving like an aimless sloth. When intensifying any workout, you’ll need to be well rested, well fed and ready to go for it.

To add intensity to your workouts:

  • Start with aerobic exercise followed by weights without resting.
  • Focus on the muscle(s) you are working or exercise you are doing.
  • Switch from one exercise to another without resting
  • Superset 2 to 3 weight training exercises back-to-back.
  • Push yourself during the last minutes of any exercise.

Do dumbbell curls for your biceps using lighter weights than you usually lift. Look directly at yourself in the mirror, concentrate on your biceps as you curl each dumbbell. The rest of the world does not exist. Forget about the number of repetitions and concentrate on form. Do rep after rep until  it burns, then lift each side 5 more times. Take a 30 second break and start all over again.

Interval mash up

If you love your treadmill or other cardio machine, shaking things up with some interval training can bump up your workout. In a nutshell, interval training is a combination of alternating short, intense spurts of exercise with moments of resty. Interval training is chock-full of different aerobic exercises that keep your heart rate up for a period of time. The speeding up and slowing down of interval training turns your body into a stress-handling machine, both mentally and physically.

Make sure you eat before you workout, especially when adding intensity to your routine. You don’t want to fizzle out in the middle of any exercise, and you’ll need ample fuel to get you through an effectively intense workout. Prior to working out, eat something hearty like oatmeal, a whole banana, and half a cup of coffee.

Newbies and in-a-rutties Can Do It

If you are a workout newbie or have been in an exercise rut, it might be time for you to mix it up. If you’ve never hired a personal trainer, you might find it helpful to learn correct form and a routine that is best for your body. Ask the trainer to create a routine for you and make sure you write it down. Once you’ve followed the routine a few times, it will be like second nature.

Workout Buddy Time

You can also enhance the probability that you’ll keep working out if you have a workout buddy. This can be a friend or somebody you click with at the gym. Your buddy will help motivate you to get into the gym, and you’ll do the same for them. And when you both get into better shape, you can also celebrate together when you reach your goal.

Just go for it. Start small. Mix it up. Workout with a friend. Add new exercises. Rest less between sets. Add intensity to your workouts. Find a friend or start by yourself–and start now!  The sooner you start the sooner you’ll feel more fit!

Before Dieting, Ask Yourself…

Why Oprah overeatsWhy am i overweight?

Everybody has there own answer and no answer is better than another. Know that the answer goes beyond your love of any particular food, such as French fries or ice-cream. Instead, dig deep, write it down,  and investigate what it is about your life that feels unsatisfying, such as a relationship, job, or any unfulfilled aspect of your life. Those answers will lead to why you are masking feelings with food.

Why Oprah wants to lose weightWhy do I want to lose weight?

There are many reasons you may want to lose weight, but it’s the long-term ones that will lead to success. Figure out if you want to just fit into a slinky dress for an upcoming event, or if you want to be fit for life because you care about the health of your body and want to enjoy life to the fullest. If you just want a temporary cuter butt, well that is what you will get. Instead, imagine what you want for the big picture of your life. Otherwise, like a yo-yo or bouncy ball, you will forever be in an unsettling cycle of up and down fitness and fatness, rather than being able to enjoy a stable everyday life of health and happiness.

Why Oprah cannot maintain a healthy weightWhy can’t I maintain a healthy weight?

Unveil any sabotaging tricks you might be playing upon yourself that keep you from maintaining a fit body. Likely there are triggers that quietly send you down an overeating path, and if you don’t identify them prior to starting a healthy diet plan, well, you may never fully enjoy endless days of looking and  feeling slim and fit.

Don’t Be Scared, Be diet  Prepared!

Prepare yourself for diet success by finding your own personal answers, and then plaster them in your mind like syrup on pancakes! Post them on your bathroom mirror, tell your family and friends, and feel the freedom from within that comes with accepting your dieting foibles. Allow yourself to be the healthy person who fits easily into your dream-size jeans–and hold onto those thoughts—everyday–as if your life depends upon it–which it does.

Once you are prepared with your answers, start eating healthy and getting the exercise your body deserves! Your every cell will love you for it!

5 Musts-Do’s If You Want Abs

1–Eat less! The truth is–abs happen in the kitchen. The trick is to eat fewer calories. You will then lose body fat, which will reveal the abs you likely already have. So eat smaller portions, and eat as healthy and Round as possible.

2–Do aerobics! This is all to burn fat, to remove it from your abs. Aerobics means any exercise or activity that gets you sweaty, like running, jogging, skating, swimming, and rebounding, jumping–20 to 60 minutes a day–5 or 6 days a week.

3–Eat whole foods! These are natural real foods, rather than processed foods that come in a box or gab. The best way to eat whole foods is to only eat what you prepare. Grocery shop healthfully, and then get in your kitchen–fake foods not allowed!

4–Get a spray tan and a bikini! If you are on a quest for abs, you are likely going to want to show them off–so heads up. A tan will bring out your abs and your muscles in general, all by adding that finishing touch on your fit body. If you do tan it up in a swim suit–take a picture!

5–Stand up straight! Remember to also suck it in. This will lengthen and strengthen your body–especially around your abs. It will give you energy and make you feel in charge of your body. You are likely to feel happier and stronger, so you may need to find something else to complain about in the future.
